Pinaynay and the Kids Meets Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast A Musical For Children

Last October 21st, we were invited by a friend, a fellow mom blogger Momsterrificmisadventure to join her watch REP theater for Young Audiences’ (RTYA) Beauty and the Beast. I have heard about this musical play a couple of months ago and I was really planning on watching this with my girls. We are a big fan of the Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and watching it onstage with live performance will be a nice, new experience for the kids. I would also love to watch our own production and our own Filipino actors play the part of the fairytale’s characters.

It was heartwarming to know that the event on that day was organized by Ayala Multipurpose Cooperative for the benefit of Hero Foundation Inc. HERO Foundation Inc. is a non profit organization that provides financial and educational assistance to orphans of our country’s “heroes,” our soldiers. HERO stands for Help, Educate, and Rear Orphans. Christmas is coming and to individual, families or corporations who are looking for a foundation to help and donate to please add them up on your blessings list. We arrived at the venue, Onstage Theatre in Greenbelt 1, a little bit late but we still managed to get a seat. We got the front row seat. I was hesitant to bring my youngest boy along because I know he can get a little too impatient, sitting down for a long time without any food. Food, except for water is not allowed in the venue so better fill up with your snack or meals before watching.

Half of the the audience were kids. So I was releaved that we will not be the only potentially loud people in the audience. Haha! The musical play were really meant for kids and the kid at heart of course! My two girls were immediately mezmerized by the show and stayed quiet the entire time. Me, I mesmerized with Beauty/Belle’s voice.

I was nervous for the youngest, being energetic as he was, he might do something unpredictable, he might get scared of the Beast or the darkness. To my amazement he was well behaved. He was excited and happy, in fact he was also singing along with Beauty and the flowers. We love the happy song! Up to now we still do the group song especially in the car only daddy can’t relate. Hihihi, hahaha, hohoho…!

Some of the scene from the play. (I took this from the play’s souvenir program, you are not allowed to take photos and turning off of cellphone is encouraged during the show)

The little boy fully awake and well behaved the whole time!

We were graced by the voice and charms of Beauty, which was played by Ms. Alana Vicente. We laughed by the antics of Beauty’s sisters and their suitors. Papà made us teary eyed. Silver Rose’s performance was superb, I wanted to cry. Beast made us nervous, made us laughed and pity at the same time. You have to hold on your seat for the finale and the grand reveal.

RTYA’s Beauty and the Beast is a whole lot different from Disneys’ adaptation. Their is an adoptation from Peter del Valle and John Ahearn’s classic. It is the closest to the French original version. Believe me, The musical is worth your time and money, credits to the Artistic Director Joy Virata.

Some shots after the play

It was an enjoyable evening for kids, from the very young and the not so young!

For those who want to watch Beauty and the Beast the ticket price is very much affordable, even for a practical mom like me. It varies from 400+ to 600+. you can check it out on Ticket World. The show still runs up to December 14, 2017 at Onstage, 2nd floor of Greenbelt 1 . It is a 75 minutes loaded of fun and entertainment!

After the musical, the kids even recieved bags of goodies from Ayala Multipurpose Cooperative

REP theater for the Young Audience (RTYA) is a division of Repertory Philippines. They both celebrated their anniversary this 2017. It was the 50th for Repertory Philippines and 25th for RTYA. I guess it was indeed meaningful for them to support organization such as Hero foundation Inc. Madame Pinaynay

A Review of Madame Googoo Neo Mesh in Nautical Pattern SSC Standard

I have been a fan of Madame Googoo carriers ever since I started baby wearing. I have been avidly following their brand on Instagram and Facebook page. The awesome designs, the vibrant colours, and the oh-so-cutesy hoods designs are such a delightful sight for a baby-wearing mama fanatic like me.

When I received the package which contained the travelling Madame Googoo carrier, I felt my heart jumped. I did not open it immediately and tried to contain my excitement. This kind of moment deserve a zen like quietness, enjoying it like I savor a delicious meal for the first time. So, I had to wait for the kids to be asleep. Haha!

After I gained the peace and quietness of the household, these were my first impression of the carrier;

The cotton fabric with the nautical design was amazingly soft. It felt as if it was washed with fabric conditioner but then again fab con is a no-no for carriers. I am pretty sure no carrier loving mama would do that. I presumed it was the fabric’s natural softness. I just had to hug it for a few seconds. Aww!

Most of Madame Googoo carriers I have seen were soft structure carrier with full fabric panel, this one is the mesh type version. I have not tried any other carrier with the same material before. The Philippines is a tropical country, would this type of carrier help keep the back of my baby dry? We will see about that. The mesh, upon inspection is a bit thicker than I expected, I was a bit skeptical on this.

The hood that came with the carrier is detachable, with snaps. I prefer this type of hood because it can be removed when not needed. The hood also is made from the same mesh material on the carrier’s body. It was a bit wider than the other hoods that I have seen or tried.

For the straps, it was also surprisingly soft in comparison with the other ssc that I used before but it is very sturdy on close inspection. The buckles are made of hard plastic. I just had a little bit of problem pressing the release button because I have weak fingers.

I enjoy testing and reviewing products because I am a very practical person. Before buying something, especially online I always look for feedbacks and reviews first. I joined baby-wearing testers group not just to experience different types of carrier but also to help moms like me to have insights and information about the product.

These are my full review of the Madame Googoo carrier;

Type of carrier: Soft Structured Carrier with Mesh Standard
Name of carrier: Madame Googoo “Neo Mesh” in Nautical Pattern
Fabric: the border of the body panel, shoulder straps and waist band-100% cotton, center of the panel and hood- breathable mesh fabric
Wearer: 5 ft 2 inches in height 57kgs in wt.
Built/size: Medium
Wearee: 2 years and 2 mos. 12.5 kgs, Boy
Longest Carry: 2 hours continuous wearing (estimated)
Type of Carries Used: Front Facing and Back Carry

The carrier surpassed my expectation. My son is quite big for his age but the carrier still were very supportive of his weight. The size of the panel still managed to place my toddler in a comfortable and desirable position. The height of the panel is just perfect for his height thus ensuring his safety. My five year old daughter also had to gave it a try and being petit as she was she can still fit in a standard carrier on a back carry.

As for the style, even though color is not what I have wanted for myself, (I would have wanted mine in a much bolder and or fun designed) it was nice and also gender neutral. This would be a keeper for those who plan to have another baby the soonest. I love the softness of the fabric, this means less friction to the baby’s skin so no rashes and more comfort.

Surprisingly, the mesh really did its job. I guess it is really airy at the back area. Every now and then while we were on the move I would check and touch my son’s back for perspiration and viola, he stayed dry! This mesh type is a must to have for any Mama living in tropical countries or areas like ours. The thickness of the mesh was not a hindrance but rather for safety, support and durability of the carrier.

At 2 years of age, my son and I are on extended breast feeding. I believe the design of the hood of Madame Googoo Nautical Mesh is very helpful when wearing and breastfeeding at the same time. It is wide, a nice cover up for privacy and the mesh is just perfect because it allows good air circulation. It would also be nice when the baby fell asleep (this never fail) you can pull the hood up for extra head support and you would not worry as it is breathable.

As I had mentioned earlier, the hood were detachable. The snaps were quite sturdy, it kept on place and never got detached. This is what I needed! I have tried other carriers before and even the one we use now, it bugs me that it kept on getting unsnapped, sometimes I opt to just remove it worrying it could get dirty or worst, lost. Never had I experienced that on this one.

Now that we are almost near that “I don’t want to be carried anymore” phase. I am very thankful that I was given a chance to review and experience a Madame Googoo carrier. I would have bought one for myself if this is not my last baby. (Wait, I’m getting emotional, huhu!) but, who knows I may still win myself one of this, a toddler or kinder size perhaps? I will still keep on dreaming (Wink- wink!).

For those mom wanting a carrier, this is a must have! Madame Googoo carriers is the haute couture of the carriers! This had been a dream come true for me. (Only a baby wearing mama can relate to this) Thanks again, Madame Googoo and Baby wearing tester ph for this opportunity!
